Import into n8n: Create Workflow, then the menu, then Import from File.
How to import it into n8n
- In n8n, create a new workflow.
- Open the ⋯ menu at the top right and choose Import from File, then pick the downloaded .json. (Or open the file, copy everything and paste it on the canvas.)
- Open each node with a warning and connect your own account: the file carries no passwords or keys.
- Run it once with Test workflow, check the result, then switch it to Active.
What this workflow does
Add a lead to a Google Sheet (name, email, company, website). n8n reads their website and recent news, Claude writes a 5-line research brief and a short cold email that opens with one real, specific detail, and the email is saved as a Gmail draft. Nothing is sent on its own: you review, edit and hit send.
What you need
- An n8n account (n8n Cloud or self-hosted)
- An Anthropic API key for Claude
- Gmail and Google Sheets
Step 1: Import the workflow
- Download the JSON file below.
- In n8n, click Create Workflow, open the ⋯ menu and choose Import from File.
- You will see: New lead → Status is new → Settings → Fetch website → Clean page text → Recent news → Brief + first line (Claude) → Create Gmail draft → Mark as drafted.
Step 2: Set up the lead sheet
Create a sheet with a tab called Leads and the columns Name, Email, Company, Website, Status, Brief. Paste its URL into New lead and Mark as drafted, and connect your Google account.
Step 3: Add your name
Open Settings and change Your Name, Your Company to your own. It is used to sign the email.
Step 4: Connect Claude and tune the email
Connect your Anthropic key on the Claude node. In Brief + first line you can change the rules: under 90 words, no flattery, one real detail, a soft ask for a 15-minute call. Add a line about what you sell so the angle fits your offer.
Step 5: Connect Gmail
Open Create Gmail draft and connect Gmail. The draft goes to the lead's email with Claude's subject line.
Step 6: Review, edit and send
Add a row with Status = new and wait a minute. Check the draft in Gmail and the brief in your sheet (Status becomes drafted). Then flip the switch to Active.
Troubleshooting
- Website fetch fails: some sites block bots. The workflow still writes a brief from the news; you can also paste a short note into the Brief column first.
- Generic first lines: the email can only be as specific as what Claude finds. Leads with a real website and recent news work best.
- Duplicate drafts: only rows with Status
neware processed, so change the status before re-adding a lead.
